Squeeze Pages And Email Marketing

What is a squeeze page?

A squeeze page is a simple web page which automatically gathers names and email addresses. It usually consists of a few lines of text and a simple form where the visitor fills in their name and email address. Of course, there's much more to it than that. In fact, there are 7 elements to creating a squeeze page that works.

A Compelling Headline
Visitors take about 3 seconds to decide whether they want to stay on a web page or click away. Your headline needs to stop them in their tracks, promising a benefit so important to them that they just have to find out more.

A List of Benefits
The list of benefits, often presented in the form of a bulleted list, gives the visitor compelling reasons to sign up for the offer. You need to get them so excited that the only logical thing to do is to enter their name and email address on the form.

A Call To Action
The Call to Action tells the visitor exactly what you want them to do. If you don't explain exactly what action you want them to take, there's a good chance that a visitor will just click away.

An E-Mail Form
The e-mail form is the heart of the squeeze page. You should ask for the absolute minimum amount of information - usually just the visitor's first name and e-mail address. You could just ask for the e-mail address, but getting the first name means that you can personalize your e-mail messages.

An Email Notice
You should explain to your visitors that they need to enter a valid email address, or they won't receive the information they're requesting.

A Privacy Statement
People are increasingly wary about giving out their personal information, such as their email address. A well-worded privacy statement builds trust and reduces the visitor's sense of the risk involved in giving out their email address.

Proper Formatting
Squeeze pages are traditionally simple and elegant. One of the most important requirements is to place the e-mail form 'above the fold' - in other words, avoid making the visitor scroll down to get to the form. Graphical squeeze pages, and ones using audio and video, are also becoming popular.
